Frequently Asked Questions – Armed Forces Day 2026

 

When and where is the event taking place?

Armed Forces Day 2026 will take place on Saturday 27 June 2026 at Pembrey Country Park, Llanelli (SA16 0EJ).

What time does the event start and finish?

The event will start at 11:30 with a short parade of standards, led by our local cadets and veterans organisations. The parade will march to the stage area to set up their standards, marking the start of the opening ceremony.

The event will officially open at 12:00. During the day there will be various events and the closing ceremony at 16:00. To conclude the day there will be evening entertainment starting at 17:30 and finishing at 19:30.

Do I need a ticket to attend the event?

Visitors are encouraged to book tickets in advance to help us manage the event, however you will not be refused entry if you arrive on the day without a ticket

Is there a charge for parking?

The standard park parking charge applies unless you are a holder of an annual parking permit.

To support the Council’s commitment to the Armed Forces community, validated parking vouchers will be available to serving members of the armed forces and veterans, allowing them to leave the park without charge. Appropriate identification will be required, such as a Veteran’s Card or Ministry of Defence Form 90.

What public transport options are available?

There is a train station at Pembrey, and the X11 bus service also operates from Carmarthen, Kidwelly and Llanelli to Pembrey.

Is the event accessible?

Every effort has been made to ensure the event is as accessible as possible. The event will be held on hard-standing ground suitable for wheelchair users and people with limited mobility, and accessible toilets will be available on site.

Are dogs allowed?

Dogs are welcome as the event is held within Pembrey Country Park. However, we kindly ask owners to keep their dogs on a lead and ensure they are well behaved throughout the event.

Will food and drink be available?

A variety of food and drink stalls from local businesses will be available on site throughout the day.

Is the event suitable for families?

The event is suitable for people of all ages and is family friendly. A range of activities and attractions will be available for children, young people and adults.

What will be happening on the day?

The day will feature a full programme of activities, including live stage performances, information stands, military displays, children’s activities and play areas. Further details about the programme will be shared closer to the event.

Are camping or caravan facilities available?

Camping and caravan facilities are available within Pembrey Country Park. For further information and to book, please visit: pembreycountrypark.wales/campsite/

Do I need to bring a chair or picnic blanket?

A limited number of seats will be available in front of the main performance stage. Visitors are welcome to bring their own chairs or picnic blankets.
