Carmarthenshire - The Cycling Hub of Wales

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of traffic, Carmarthenshire has some fantastic traffic free routes on The Celtic Trail West, with some great family friendly routes

Millennium Coastal Park, Llanelli (Sustrans 4)

Start: Bynea or Pembrey Country Park

Total Distance: 22km/13 miles

Difficulty Rating: 2/10

Estimated Time: 2 to 3 hours

A superb mostly flat, well surfaced and easily accessible coastal traffic free route that follows the stunning Carmarthenshire coast, along the route of the Wales Coast Path for a distance of approximately 13miles from Bynea in the East to Pembrey Country Park in the West. Swiss Valley Path / Llanelli to Cross Hands (Sustrans Route 47)

Start: Sandy Water Park, or Cefneithin RFC 

Total Length: 19km/12 miles

Difficulty Rating: 3/10

Total Time: 2 hours 

This fantastic off-road path follows the route of the historic Llanelli and Mynydd Mawr Mineral Railway through the beautiful countryside of the Gwendraeth Valley. It is mostly flat, with a tarmac surface and easily accessible. Download the map and cycle the route

 

Amman Valley Riverside Path (Sustrans Route 437)

Start: Pantyffynnon RFC or Brynaman RFC

Total Length: 11km/7 miles

Difficulty Rating: 3/10

Estimated Time: 1.5 to 2 hours

A beautiful traffic-free riverside path extends nearly eight miles from Pantyffynnon to Brynamman along the River Amman with great views to the Black and Betws Mountains and wonderful scenery. The path passes through woodland, farmland and beside river pools, with plenty of wildlife along the route. Download the map and cycle the route
