Mab Jones - popular poet and current New York Times writer

Mab Jones - popular poet and current New York Times writer

Dylan Thomas Boathouse, Dylan's Walk, Laugharne, Carmarthenshire SA33 4SD.
7pm-9pm. Join popular poet and current New York Times writer Mab Jones as she follows her recent Creative Wales Award period with a sharing and showcasing of work. Mab has been expanding her usual spoken word into the realm of Japanese storytelling. Come and hear some of these, as well as poems from: her recent visit to Tokyo; as Resident Poet in the National Botanic Garden of Wales; drawn from myth and legend; written for her 2014 Artes Mundi commission; and set in lively city scenarios from her home city of Cardiff. Mab will also be offering two evenings of adult entertainment, sharing poetry from her Burning Eye Books collection 'Poor Queen', as well as newer work, with an added dash of literary interaction, light-heartedness, and humour.

Mab will also be engaging Boathouse visitors and families in a number of fun literary activities - write a poem on a paper sock and hang it from the line; compose a wish-spell and add it to an origami crane installation; send a pretend postcard from the Boathouse inspired by its wonderful views using beautiful vintage stamps; and add to our large literary love spoon with spoonerisms, sonnets, snippets, and oodles of doodles of your own. These four activities will take place at different spots over each weekend, but the aim will be to fill the house, quite literally, with poetry and writing. 10.30am - 4.00pm every Saturday & Sunday till September 27th.
