Eisteddfod Exhibition - John Welson & David Greenslade

Fred Roberts Suite, Llanelli Library, Vaughan Street, Llanelli.
On the Eisteddfod field as well as here at Llanelli Library the artist John Welson will be exhibiting work from Y Gwiblu Brith with poet David Greenslade - studies inspired by the names and colours of moths. The library will also exhibit paintings of trumpet flowers (based on travels in South America) and imagery inspired by the mid-Wales countryside. John Welson’s current work involves detailed, patient applications of livid colour, much in the way that butterfly wings are made of layers of scales or the way that landscapes are made of layers of time, layers of labour, layers of change.

John Welson has work in permanent collections such as the Pompidou Centre, Paris; the National Gallery of Chile and the Museum of Modern Art, New York. He has exhibited his work alongside many famous artists including Salvador Dali and more recently Lucien Freud and Damien Hirst.

The exhibition will be open from Saturday 2nd August until Saturday 9th August and will be open during normal library opening hours.  01554 773538
