Carmarthen Vintage Festival
Carmarthen will come alive with the sights and sounds of vintage eras on Saturday 23rd July. Bells will ring from St Peter’s Church, declaring the day to return to memories of Carmarthen’s quaint past.
Expect a vintage shopper's heaven browsing through the numerous shops and stalls in Carmarthen with clothing, accessories, household goods, memorabilia, quirky ornaments, curious trinkets and vinyl records. The festival also features a fashion show, a popup vintage tea room, vintage hair & beauty displays, impromptu musical performances, street theatre from yesteryear plus a variety of workshops on up-cycling and distressing furniture. Not forgetting our little people join us for a vintage carnival procession or a enter a vintage raft in the River Festival! You can even join the most marvellous nostalgic stroll down memory lane with our vintage treasure trove hunt trail explore King street, Jacksons Lane, Guildhall Square, Lammas Street, Merlins Walk, Red Street and St Catherine's Walk!
"All shops and businesses can join us in creating the ultimate vintage look which is so on trend now, this event will be amazing and we can’t wait to get all dressed up for it!" explained Fiona Jones from Fiona’s Hair & Beauty.
Vintage music from the era including 'Singing in the rain' and 'Hen beic Penny Farthing fy nhaid' will be played in shops and cafes on the day to add to the vintage atmosphere through the streets.
Shops will dress their sumptuous windows as they would have been years ago, filled with wonderful delights from the 1940’s, 1950’s and 1960’s. Maybe you will see a vintage typewriter, telephone or camera as you meander through the streets. Shopkeepers will join in dressed in vintage outfits and bring a touch of the good old days back to the streets.
Café’s will serve Vintage Teas to visitors and shoppers on the day, with Victoria sponges and other classic cakes on the menu.
Why not browse through the antiques centres to see what else Carmarthen has to offer from the vintage era. Vintage-lovers need look no further for a veritable treasure trove for collectors and those that love to pick up a quirky little bargain or two.
St Peter’s Church will have a Vintage Church Fete in the grounds which will be run by the Carmarthen Twirlers with profits going to the Friend’s of St Peter’s Church and the Carmarthen Twirlers. Come and join in the fun and games, it will be a lovely celebration for all.
Carmarthen River Festival
Carmarthen River Festival arrangements are in full swing at now in the lead up to this wonderful community event on the River Towy. Gwendraeth Valley Paddlers, Carmarthen Coracle and Netmen’s Association, Carmarthen Boat Club, River Tywi Yacht Club, Towy Boat Club, Carmarthenshire County Council, Carmarthen Town Council and the Cameron Comey Memorial Trust are all gearing up for a bumper afternoon of entertainment! The Vintage Carnival Parade will start at 3pm in the pedestrian road opposite Carmarthen Library, and be led by the Corps of Drums to The Quay in Carmarthen. Local residents and groups are being encouraged to join in the parade to show support for the newly formed Carmarthenshire Water Safety Partnership.
Vintage Antiques Trail and Vintage Inspired shops

An Aladdin’s Cave full of dealers: more than 40 of them occupy different corners of this gallery, which stretches back a block and upstairs. Towy Antique Fairs hold South Wales largest Antique fairs at the United Counties Showground just outside Carmarthen. The fairs are held throughout the year and attract hundreds of dealers with a wide variety of stock. Next Carmarthen Antiques and Flea Market is on 27th September.
