Family Carmarthenshire
Get close to nature at feeding time and let the friendly geese peck seeds straight from your hand at the National Wetland Centre near Llanelli.
This family-friendly site is open all year round and offers a host of wet weather activities from canoe safaris to pond dipping. The 500 acres is a mosaic of lakes, pools and lagoons and home to some of the world’s most spectacular ducks and flamingos.
If your family loves wide open spaces then a trip to the National Botanic Garden of Wales is a must. Set in the lush Towy Valley countryside, it’s the first garden of its kind to be created in Britain for 200 years.
At its heart is the futuristic Great Glasshouse, a teardrop shaped computer-controlled wonder. It maintains a year-round Mediterranean climate, just great for growing coconuts, pineapples and palms.
Pembrey
If you need a rest after all that running around, then a gentle stroll along the coast is in order. After all, we do have some of the most glorious sandy beaches in Europe.
Dip a toe in the deliciously salty sea at Pendine or enjoy an ice cream while you paddle at Pembrey, where the beach is separated from a fun-filled country park by a ridge of rolling sand dunes. A great family day out!
